Axis AMC Acquires Axis Securities PMS Business
Axis Asset Management Company has acquired the portfolio management services business of Axis Securities, marking a significant expansion in its alternates platform. The deal brings over 2,500 investors into Axis AMC’s PMS ecosystem and lifts combined PMS assets under management to around ₹15,000 crore.
What Happened
Axis AMC has taken over Axis Securities’ PMS business and will now run it under the “Alternates by Axis AMC” platform. The company said the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
This acquisition follows regulatory approval earlier in the year, when the Competition Commission of India cleared the deal. The latest development confirms the formal integration of the PMS business into Axis AMC’s broader investment platform.
Why This Deal Matters
The acquisition strengthens Axis AMC’s presence in the high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth investor segment. PMS is a more customized investment service than mutual funds, so adding this business allows Axis AMC to deepen its offerings for affluent clients.
It also makes Axis AMC a more meaningful player in India’s alternatives market, where investors are increasingly looking for differentiated strategies beyond traditional mutual funds. For a large AMC, owning a PMS business can improve cross-selling, product depth, and investor retention.
Scale And Integration
The acquired PMS business adds more than 2,500 investors to Axis AMC’s platform. That scale makes the transaction one of the larger PMS acquisitions in India by investor count.
Axis AMC has also absorbed the entire PMS team from Axis Securities, including investment professionals, product specialists, sales, and client servicing teams. This should help maintain continuity for existing clients while allowing the new platform to operate with a unified structure.
Future Growth Plans
Axis AMC said it wants to expand its alternates platform further with customized mandates for HNIs and family offices, non-discretionary PMS solutions, and products supported by its Category III AIF capabilities. That indicates the company is not just buying a business, but building a broader alternates franchise.
The appointment of Naveen Kulkarni as CIO of PMS and Listed Equity Alternates also signals a stronger focus on investment strategy and product innovation. This could help Axis AMC build more specialized offerings over time.
