The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) reported total vehicle retail sales of 31,72,466 units in October 2026, registering a 25.05% increase over September, though down 23.80% year-on-year. The decline largely reflects the higher base of October 2025, when Navratri and Diwali coincided. This October recorded the second-highest retail sales ever for the month.

Two-Wheelers recorded sales of 23,21,419 units, up 29.67% month-on-month but down 28.35% year-on-year. Rural sales declined 33.97%, compared with a 20.77% fall in urban markets, indicating that festive purchases may have shifted to November.

Passenger Vehicles registered 5,07,768 units, rising 18.86% over September but declining 14.23% year-on-year. Demand remained steady for utility vehicles, while inventory stood at 43?45 days.

Commercial Vehicles grew 2.29% year-on-year and 11.19% month-on-month to 1,15,140 units, marking their best-ever October. Three-Wheelers and Tractors also recorded their highest-ever October retail sales, growing 3.97% and 3.10% year-on-year, respectively. Construction Equipment sales increased 22.07%.

Electric vehicle retail sales reached a record 3.55 lakh units, growing 44.88% year-on-year, with overall EV penetration at approximately 11.5%.
