Economic Buzz: US job openings at 7.52 million in September

The number of job openings in the United States stood at 7.5 million in September, increasing from the previous month's revised figure of 7.19 million, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics said in its report published on Tuesday. The job openings rate was 4.5%.

The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) found that the number of hires was little changed at 5.4 million, with the hires rate at 4.5%.

Total separations and the separations rate came in at 5.3 million and 3.3%, respectively, little changed from the month prior. The quits rate came in at 2.1%.
