Nifty above 23,300 level; oil & gas shares advance

The key equity benchmarks traded with major gains in the morning trade. The Nifty traded above the 23,300 level. Oil & gas shares advanced after declining in the past trading session.

At 10:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 995.06 points or 1.34% to 75,439.55. The Nifty 50 index rose 281.55 points or 1.22% to 23,334.95.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index gained 1.05% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 1.59%.

The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 2,664 shares rose and 1,217 shares fell. A total of 269 shares were unchanged.

New Listing:

Shares of EAAA India Alternatives were currently trading at Rs 1,721.45 at 10:25 IST on the BSE, representing a premium of 3.39% as compared with the issue price of Rs 1,665.

The stock debuted at Rs 1,673 on the BSE, a premium of 0.48% over its issue price.

So far, the stock has hit a high of Rs 1,729.30 and a low of Rs 1,600.10. On the BSE, over 3.09 lakh shares of the company were traded in the counter so far.

Buzzing Index:

The Nifty Oil & Gas index rose 2.97% to 10,608.90. The index shed 0.47% in the past trading session.

Reliance Industries (up 6.12%), Aegis Logistics (up 5.27%), Aegis Vopak Terminals (up 3.98%), Petronet LNG (up 3.45%), GAIL (India) (up 3.35%), Indian Oil Corporation (up 3.04%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (up 2.63%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (up 2.63%), Adani Total Gas (up 2.31%) and Chennai Petroleum Corporation (up 2.31%) added.
