German gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.2% in the third quarter of 2026 compared with the second quarter of 2026 - following adjustment for price, seasonal and calendar variations - after already increasing in the first half of 2026. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reported that final consumption expenditure increased slightly compared with the previous quarter, after price, seasonal and calendar adjustment. By contrast, the provisional figures indicate a decline in capital formation. The very dynamic trend in exports seen in the first half of the year slowed noticeably in the third quarter of 2026. GDP in the third quarter of 2026 increased by a price adjusted 1.3% compared with the third quarter of 2025. The increase was 1.2% after adjustment for price and calendar effects.
