Economic Buzz: Bank of Japan leaves interest rate unchanged

30-Oct-2026 | 10:41
The Bank of Japan (BoJ) decided on Friday in an 8-1 majority vote to leave its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 1.25%, as widely expected.

The BoJ said in its monetary policy report that underlying inflation was now generally consistent with its 2% target.

It also decided to quicken the pace of its ETF sales from January 2027 to about 860 billion yen, up from about 330 billion yen, reducing the time required to sell its holdings from 112 years to 43 years.
