Commodities Buzz: US natural gas inventories up 3.8% on year

The US Energy Information Administration or EIA reported that working gas in underground storage across the Lower 48 states stood at 3,724 billion cubic feet for the week ending October 23, 2026. The EIA data showed a net weekly increase of 80 Bcf from the prior week's level of 3,644 Bcf. Stocks are below year-ago levels by 147 Bcf or 3.8 percent. Against the five-year average, inventories are up 38 Bcf or about 1.0 percent The EIA noted that total working gas is within the five-year historical range.
