Gold trades sideways ahead of Fed policy signals amid Middle East uncertainty

28-Oct-2026 | 14:40
Gold futures remained range-bound near $4,050 per ounce on Wednesday as investors awaited the Federal Reserve?s policy decision due later today for fresh signals on the interest rate outlook. The US dollar index held near 102.3, limiting bullion?s upside, while persistent Middle East tensions and volatile oil prices added to market uncertainty. Silver underperformed sharply, falling nearly 1% below $53 per ounce as metal-specific liquidation intensified the broader pressure, leaving prices on course for a third consecutive monthly decline. Markets will closely scrutinize the Fed?s policy statement and accompanying commentary for clues on the possibility of a rate hike in December. On MCX, December gold futures edged marginally lower to ₹1,44,009 per 10 grams in subdued trade.
