China?s stock market ended lower on Tuesday, with the Shanghai Composite falling 1.33% to 3,648.3 and the Shenzhen Component dropping 2.50% to 11,245.7. Losses in technology stocks dragged the market down, despite stronger industrial profit growth and positive sentiment following AI firm Anthropic?s much-anticipated IPO filing.
Technology stocks were among the biggest losers. Cambricon Technologies fell 5.68%, Hygon Information Technology dropped 5.54%, NAURA Technology declined 5.51%, SMIC lost 2.70%, Zhongji Innolight slipped 2.94%, and Eoptolink Technology fell 5.60%.
On the economic front, China?s industrial profits rose 15.5% year-on-year to CNY 6.03 trillion in the first nine months of 2026. However, growth eased slightly from 15.7% recorded in the January-August period, indicating a modest slowdown in profit growth.
