Gold and silver extend losses ahead of key central bank decisions
27-Oct-2026 | 14:31
Gold futures fell around 1% towards $4,010 per ounce in Asian trade on Tuesday as a stronger US dollar and rebounding oil prices weighed on precious metals ahead of key central bank decisions. The dollar index held above 102, while recovering oil prices reinforced inflation concerns and expectations of tighter monetary policy, pressuring non-yielding bullion. Silver underperformed, plunging nearly 3% to around $52.80 per ounce, its lowest level since November 2025. Investors are now awaiting US third-quarter GDP and PCE inflation data for fresh clues on economic momentum and the Federal Reserve?s policy outlook. On MCX, December gold futures fell 0.6% to ₹1,42,182 per 10 grams, while silver futures declined nearly 2% to ₹1,91,516 per kilogram.
