27-Oct-2026 | 14:10

Tata Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) for the development of 110 kV power infrastructure to meet the 90 MW power requirement of BPCL's Petro Resid Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (PRFCCU) project at its Mumbai Refinery.

The PRFCCU project is a landmark initiative in India's refining sector - the first project of its kind being executed in India, and a strategic milestone in BPCL's journey towards higher-value product recovery and petrochemical diversification. With a processing capacity of 3 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) and a project outlay of approximately Rs 14,203 crore, it is BPCL's second-largest project currently under execution and the largest ever undertaken at Mumbai Refinery. By enhancing domestic value addition, PRFCCU will contribute to India's energy security and the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Under the MoU, Tata Power will provide 110 kV connectivity and undertake the design and development of the associated power infrastructure required to meet the project's power requirement. The infrastructure development entails a significant investment in strengthening power connectivity and transmission infrastructure. This infrastructure development is envisaged to be completed over approximately 24 months with a combined estimated outlay of approx. Rs 250 crore for Tata Power and BPCL, subject to applicable approvals and project milestones.
