21-Oct-2026 | 16:16
Japan?s Nikkei 225 Index rose 0.85% to close at 64,621 on Wednesday, recovering from one-month lows as AI-related stocks led the gains. Strong results from server maker Super Micro Computer boosted expectations for continued AI spending, while positive business growth at SpaceX also supported market sentiment.

Technology stocks performed well, with Kioxia Holdings gaining 2.8%, Advantest rising 1.7%, SoftBank Group and Lasertec each adding 1.5%, and Taiyo Yuden climbing 1.7%. Financial stocks also rebounded, with Mitsubishi UFJ rising 2.4% and Sumitomo Mitsui gaining 2.3%.

However, the index moved down from its session highs as oil prices rose amid renewed uncertainty over US-Iran negotiations, raising concerns about inflation. Meanwhile, Japan?s exports grew less than expected in September but continued to expand for the 13th consecutive month, supported by strong demand for semiconductors and AI-related products.
