Natural Gas futures fell yesterday as rising US inventories clubbed with worries over demand in coming months capped the upside. Prices dipped from two-week high and extended corrective action today as well. The working gas in underground storage in the US stood at 3,500 billion cubic feet as of October 2, 2026, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) yesterday. The agency marks the net weekly increase at 85 Bcf from the prior week's level of 3,415 Bcf. The latest stocks are 130 Bcf below the level recorded a year earlier but 68 Bcf above the five-year average of 3,432 Bcf. EIA separately noted yesterday that lower prices for natural gas and propane will drive decreases in winder energy expenditures this year for the half of US households heating with those fuels. It expects energy expenditures will decrease on average by 9% in homes heating with natural gas and by 3% in those heating with propane. This is keeping Natural Gas futures under check and the counter currently trades down 1.39% at $3.12 per mmbtu. MCX Natural Gas futures are trading at Rs 303.60 per mmbtu, down 0.72% on the day.
