Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund has stated that while global growth has continued to stay on course in recent months, there are significant variations behind the expansion. She noted that many countries inflation exceeding target has been a headache for quite some time and highlighted the case of in the US in particular. The IMF is drawing comfort from long-term inflation expectations staying anchored, but she also stated that inflation is only anchored until it is not. The IMF chief also noted that AI building boom is inflationary. The energy and food shocks are inflationary. Tariffs, defense spending, and high public debt can be inflationary.
