Gold holds near $4,200 as dollar strength weighs
06-Oct-2026 | 14:28
Gold held near $4,200 per ounce on Tuesday after touching a two-month low, with a stronger US dollar and rising Treasury yields keeping pressure on the metal despite softer US jobs data and reduced expectations of an October Fed rate hike. The dollar index hovered near 102, supported by a weaker euro amid growing fiscal and political concerns in France and Spain. Gold still gained around 4% in Q3 despite a nearly 7% September decline, supported by central-bank buying, ETF inflows and geopolitical risks. On MCX, December gold futures rose 0.26% to ₹1,49,708 per 10 grams, with rupee weakness cushioning the monthly decline.
