Sensex jumps 282 pts; metal shares in demand
At 10:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 282.06 points or 0.39% to 72,664.17. The Nifty 50 index gained 89.55 points or 0.40% to 22,645.30.
In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index rose 0.77% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.79%.
The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2,460 shares rose and 1,284 shares fell. A total of 267 shares were unchanged.
New Listing:
Shares of Acevector were currently trading at Rs 25.89 at 10:15 IST on the BSE, representing a discount of 19.09% as compared with the issue price of Rs 32.
The stock debuted at Rs 28.30 on the BSE, a discount of 11.56% over its issue price.

Vedanta (up 3.76%), Lloyds Metals & Energy (up 2.06%), APL Apollo Tubes (up 1.85%), National Aluminium Company (up 1.47%), Steel Authority of India (up 1.32%), Vedanta Aluminium Metal (up 1.29%), Jindal Stainless (up 1.27%), Hindustan Copper (up 0.96%), NMDC (up 0.9%) and Hindalco Industries (up 0.89%) jumped.
