Economic Buzz: German business activity accelerates in September

Germany's private sector expanded at a faster pace in September, S&P Global said in its final report published on Monday. The Composite Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) Output Index, which combines services and manufacturing results, rose from August's 51.8 to 53.8 in September, its highest reading in almost a year.

The Services PMI Business Activity Index jumped from 49.7 to 52.9, entering expansion territory after several months. However, the latest survey showed that inflationary pressures began to intensify at the end of the third quarter due to cost increases.
