Economic Buzz: UK manufacturing PMI up in September

Manufacturing activity in the United Kingdom improved in September, according to a report by S&P Global released on Thursday. The manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) gained 0.2 points from August to reach 51.9. Output growth slowed somewhat, but the number of new orders increased more than in August. However, the rise was limited to bigger companies, as small manufacturers recorded a sharp contraction in both new business and production.
