DOW slides more than 4% in Sep-26

The US stocks eased on final day of September but saw an overall mixed performance during the day as a key US inflation reading slowed last month. The S&P509 index fell 0.25%, giving up its gains from earlier in the trading day and closing at 7,651.54. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.24% to end at 26,861.06. The Dow Jones Industrial Average
slipped 0.86%, or 443.87 points, to 50,906.05. Data showed that the personal consumption expenditures price index for August increased at an annual rate of 3.4%, down from 3.7% the month prior. The core PCE, excluding food and energy, rose 3% year on year, down from 3.3% in previous month.
For the last month, the S&P 500 slipped 0.45%, the Nasdaq rose 1.86%, and the Dow fell 4.29%. The Dow snapped a five-month streak of gains while the S&P fell for the third month in four. The Nasdaq gained for a second straight month though.
