Molbio Diagnostics jumps after HDFC Mutual Fund buys stake in bulk deal
Business Excellence Trust III sold 23,28,996 shares, equivalent to a 2.02% stake, at Rs 1,315.01 per share. It held an 11.52% stake in the company as of 14 August 2026.
Goa-based Molbio Diagnostics is a point-of-care diagnostics company focused testing for infectious and non-communicable diseases. Its flagship Truenat platform is a portable, battery-operated real-time PCR system that enables decentralised molecular testing, with results available in about an hour. Truenat is patented in more than 100 countries and supports testing for 30 diseases through 43 assays. As of 31 March 2026, more than 12,500 Truenat devices had been installed across over 90 countries. The company has also expanded into radiology, digital pathology and breast health screening through subsidiaries and strategic partnerships.
On a consolidated basis, Molbio Diagnostics reported a net profit of Rs 58.75 crore in Q1 June 2026 compared with a net loss of Rs 23.71 crore in Q1 June 2025. Net sales rose 309.57% YoY to Rs 408.38 crore in Q1 June 2026.
The stock was listed on 17 August 2026. It debuted at Rs 980, marking a premium of 21.44% over the issue price of Rs 807. The stock is currently up 68.65% over its IPO price.
The IPO was subscribed 70.26 times. The issue opened for bidding on 10 August 2026 and closed on 12 August 2026. The price band was fixed at Rs 768 to Rs 807 per share.
The objectives of the fresh issue included Rs 125.12 crore for setting up a research and development facility and Centre of Excellence, Rs 80.8 crore for purchasing plant, machinery and other equipment for Goa Unit I, Goa Unit II and Visakhapatnam Unit, with the remaining amount allocated for general corporate purposes.
