Sun TV Network soars on report of potential IPL franchise demerger
Sun TV owns three cricket franchises - SunRisers Hyderabad in the IPL, SunRisers Eastern Cape in Cricket South Africa?s T20 League and SunRisers Leeds Ltd. in The Hundred in the UK.
In a clarification to the stock exchanges, Sun TV said it has made all disclosures to date and confirmed that there is no impending material price-sensitive information or announcement that may have a bearing on the price or trading volume of the company?s shares.
A brokerage report said a potential demerger could unlock value for shareholders. It estimated the IPL franchise could be valued at $1.4 billion-$1.5 billion, or approximately Rs 13,000 crore-Rs 14,000 crore.
Sun TV?s market capitalisation currently stands at around Rs 24,000 crore, while its free cash position is estimated at around Rs 8,000 crore, according to the brokerage report. IPL-related revenue accounted for 33% of the company?s revenue in the first quarter, the report said.
Sun TV is engaged in producing and broadcasting satellite television and radio software programming in the regional languages.
On a consolidated basis, Sun TV Network's net profit rose 16.96% to Rs 618.82 crore while net sales rose 12.99% to Rs 1457.88 crore in Q1 June 2026 over Q1 June 2025.
The stock has gained 28.89% over the past month and 18.63% over the past three months.
