Nifty trades above 22,750 mark; media shares jump
Media shares jumped after declining in the past five trading sessions.
At 10:25 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex advanced 339.57 points or 0.47% to 72,868.64. The Nifty 50 index added 42.40 points or 0.19% to 22,760.20.
In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index jumped 0.42% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index rose 0.31%.
The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 2,429 shares rose and 1,344 shares fell. A total of 244 shares were unchanged.
The United States 10-year bond yield fell 0.46% to 5.236. Brent crude for November 2026 settlement added 61 cents or 0.59% to $103.20 a barrel.

The Nifty Media index jumped 2.91% to 1585.85. The index declined 2.32% in the past trading sessions.
Sun TV Network (up 9.44%), Saregama India (up 2.77%), PVR Inox (up 2.69%), D B Corp (up 2.64%) and Nazara Technologies (up 2.34%) were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Tips Music (up 1.55%), Network 18 Media & Investments (up 1.51%), Prime Focus (up 1.24%), Zee Entertainment Enterprises (up 1.13%) advanced.
Stock in Spotlight:
KSB rose 5.29% after the company announced that it had received a significant export order from Dangote Projects Free Zone Enterprise. The order involves the supply of around 18 boiler feed pump packages. The contract is valued at $12.4 million, equivalent to approximately Rs 118 crore, according to the company.
