Economic Buzz: US consumer confidence deteriorates in September

The Consumer Sentiment Index in the United States declined by 7.0% on a monthly basis to 48.1 points in September, according to the final report published by the University of Michigan on Tuesday. On an annual basis, the figure is seen to have decreased by 12.7%.

In September, the index reached its lowest level in four months. The Current Economic Conditions Index slid by 1.9% month-on-month and tumbled by 15.7% compared to September 2025. The Index of Consumer Expectations fell 10.1% compared to August, sinking by 10.4% year-over-year.
