Commodities Buzz: Copper net speculative long positions jump near record high

Base metal speculators sharply increased their longs in the Copper futures market, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Copper futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds and retailers totalled a net long position of 90522 contracts in the data reported through September 22, 2026, jumping by 15388 contracts and hitting near highest mark in last decade after a sharp fall in previous week.
