Economic Buzz: US durable goods orders unchanged in August

Durable goods orders in the United States were virtually unchanged in August, down $0.1 billion to reach $338.6 billion, the US Census Bureau reported on Friday. The figure followed a 0.9% increase in July.

Transportation equipment, down in three of the past four months, led the decrease, falling 0.6% to $114.1 billion. New orders, excluding transportation, rose 0.3%, while orders excluding defense increased 0.1%.
