Economic Buzz: University of Michigan consumer confidence index down around 13% on year

The Consumer Sentiment Index in the United States fell 7% in September compared to the month prior, landing at 48.1, the University of Michigan data showed today. The figure sank 12.7% on an annual level. The Current Economic Conditions Index eased 1.9% in the reported period compared to August and lost 15.7% compared to September 2025, amounting to 50.9 points. The Index of Consumer Expectations also slid 10.1% on a monthly basis and 10.4% on a yearly basis.
