Natural Gas corrects after recent spike as US inventories see steady rise

Natural Gas futures slipped today, coming off a three-month high amid a steady rise in US inventories and profit selling. Working gas in underground storage across the Lower 48 states stood at 3,351 billion cubic feet as of Friday, September 18, 2026, according to estimates in the weekly natural gas storage report from the Energy Information Administration. The agency reported a net increase of 53 Bcf from the prior week, when stocks were 3,298 Bcf. Stocks were 146 Bcf below the level recorded a year earlier and 95 Bcf above the five-year average of 3,256 Bcf. US Natural Gas futures are down 3.80% at $3.24 per mmbtu following this. MCX Natural Gas is also down 4.12% at Rs 311.90 per mmbtu after hitting highs around Rs 319 per mmbtu mark.
