Economic Buzz: Eurozone's broad monetary aggregate up 3.5% in August

The European Central Bank (ECB) said on Friday that the Eurozone's broad monetary aggregate grew at an annual rate of 3.5% in August. The biggest contributors were claims on the private sector at 3.4 percentage points and net external assets at 2.5 percentage points.

The narrow monetary aggregate, including only currency in circulation and overnight deposits, grew by 2.9% year-on-year in August. The annual growth rate of short-term deposits other than overnight deposits stood at 4.1%, while the growth rate of marketable instruments was measured at 7.1% on a yearly basis.
