Economic Buzz: US pending home sales rise 0.3% in August

Pending home sales in the United States climbed by 0.3% in August, compared to the month before, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) revealed in its report on Thursday.

On an annual basis, however, the figure decreased 4.7% in the reported month. Regionally, Northeast pending sales fell 4.2% month-over-month and 3.9% compared to the year before. Those in the Midwest saw a 1.6% monthly drop and a 4.9% decline on an annual basis. Pending home sales in the South went up by 2.3% compared to July, but tumbled 3.8% compared to August 2025. In the West, home sales increased 3.0% on a monthly basis, while registering a 6.7% plunge compared to last year.
