Economic Buzz: UK trade deficit at ?9B in three months to July

The United Kingdom's trade deficit in goods and services declined by ?1.1 billion to ?9 billion in the three months to July 2026, compared with the previous three months, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said in its report published on Friday.

Goods exports rose by 2.8% or ?0.9 billion. Goods imports increased by 2.4% or ?1.3 billion. Meanwhile, services surplus rose by ?0.7 billion to ?52.6 billion.

Imports from non-European Union countries jumped by 6.7% or ?1.7 billion, while those from the bloc decreased by 1.4% or ?0.4 billion. Exports to EU countries went up by 5.2% or ?0.8 billion, while those to non-EU countries grew by 0.6% or ?0.1 billion.
