Economic Buzz: US initial jobless claims down by 1,000 to 206,000

The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States declined by 1,000 compared to the previous week's revised level to land at 206,000 in the seven days ending September 5, the Department of Labor (DoL) said in its report published on Thursday. The 4-week moving average decreased by 1,500 from the previous week's revised average to 206,000.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate in the week ending August 29 remained at 1.2%. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment dropped by 1,000 week-on-week to 1,774,000. The 4-week moving average dipped by 1,750 to 1,779,000.
