China?s food prices fell 1.4% year-on-year in August 2026, easing slightly from a 1.5% decline in July and marking the fifth consecutive month of contraction. The latest drop was the mildest in the sequence, with fresh vegetables, fruit, edible oils and dairy prices remaining under pressure. Pork prices declined 11.8%, although the pace of contraction moderated from 13.9%, amid ample supply and subdued demand.
