Gold eases towards $4,500 ahead of key US jobs data

04-Sep-2026 | 14:40
Gold futures eased towards $4,500/oz as a firmer dollar and elevated Treasury yields weighed on bullion, with renewed Middle East tensions pushing oil prices higher and reviving inflation concerns. The resulting shift in rate expectations has reinforced pressure on non-yielding gold, particularly after the hawkish repricing that followed Jackson Hole. However, dovish remarks from Fed Governor Christopher Waller tempered expectations for an imminent rate hike, leaving the August inflation reading and jobs report as key catalysts for the monetary-policy outlook. After a strong August rally, gold now faces a more challenging near-term backdrop as investors reassess the trajectory of US rates. MCX October gold futures traded 0.3% lower at ₹1,55,362 per 10 grams.
