Commodities Buzz: Global Sugar futures slide after recent spurt as India reduces stock holding limit
04-Sep-2026 | 13:11
Global Sugar markets are turning lower after recent spurt. The raw sugar futures fell around 4% yesterday to close at 17.99 cents per pound as India has reduced dealer stock holding limit from 4,000 to 2,000 quintals (200 MT), effective Sep 15 to Nov 30, to curb hoarding and ensure domestic supply ahead of festive season. The commodity had hit near 17 month high before this slide. Prices soared around 21% in August 2026.
