Economic Buzz: US manufacturing activity accelerates in August

Manufacturing activity in the United States improved in August compared with the month before, with the sector seeing solid expansion, S&P Global said in its final report published on Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 53.9, but production and new orders lost momentum as companies faced higher prices and supply constraints linked mainly to the Middle East war and tariff uncertainty.
