Commodities Buzz: Copper net speculative long positions hit highest in five and half years

Base metal speculators increased their longs in the Copper futures market, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Copper futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds and retailers totalled a net long position of 85266 contracts in the data reported through August 25, 2026, jumping by 5518 contracts and hitting around five and half year high.
