Currency Buzz: INR sees impressive gains in last session

Indian Rupee surged in last session, adding excellent gains as a steep fall in Crude oil prices boosted the local currency. INR added 26 paise at 95.44. It tested around two-week high near 95.40 per US dollar in intraday moves. The US dollar index is lax around 99 mark. Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India?s special USD-INR forex swap facility for FCNR(B) deposits, Overseas Foreign Currency Borrowings (OFCB) and External Commercial Borrowings (ECB) has mobilised $73 billion in foreign exchange inflows as of August 21, 2026, reflecting strong participation from Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).
