26-Aug-2026 | 13:03
Natural Gas futures continued to rise as markets eyed forecasts indicating extreme heat across the Southern US which will likely push up cooling demand. The commodity has been generally steady in last few sessions and currently holds around one-month high. The US Energy Information Administration reported last week that working natural gas stocks in the Lower 48 states stood at 3,169 billion cubic feet as of August 14, 2026. The figure marks a net increase of 16 Bcf from the prior week. Compared with the same period last year, inventories were 28 Bcf lower, while they remained 185 Bcf above the five-year average of 2,984 Bcf. Futures have mostly moved up after this data and the commodity is currently trading up 1.45% at $2.86 per mmbtu. MCX Natural Gas futures are up around 1.33% at Rs 273.90 per mmbtu after moving near Rs 275 per mmbtu mark in intraday moves.
