Economic Buzz: German ifo business climate improves in August

Germany's Business Climate Index came in at 88.8 in August, up 1.9 points from the previous month, a report from the Munich-based Institute for Economic Research (Ifo) showed on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Current Assessment Index improved by 2 points on a monthly basis, landing at 88.5. The Expectations Index increased from 86.8, registered in July, to 89.1 in August.

Companies were more satisfied with their current situation, and they revised their expectations significantly upward. Uncertainty continued to decline. Despite another rise in energy prices, the German economy is recovering, the Ifo commented.
