24-Aug-2026 | 15:41
Chinese stocks ended lower on Monday, with technology shares leading a broad market selloff. The Shanghai Composite fell 0.59% to 3,882, while the Shenzhen Component dropped 2.13% to 13,794.3. Both indexes closed at their lowest levels in nearly three weeks.

Tech stocks faced fresh pressure amid concerns over fundraising plans by Alibaba and Yangtze Memory Technologies. Major decliners included SMIC, Cambricon Technologies, Hygon Information Technology, Zhongji Innolight and Eoptolink Technology.

Investors are also cautious ahead of a busy earnings week, with companies such as BYD, PetroChina, CNOOC and Eoptolink due to report results.
