Air passenger services see sharp spike, according to Service Producer Price Index

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced data for newly launched Service Producer Price Index (Service PPI). The data showed that air passenger services recorded the sharpest increase among all tracked services, with the index rising to 126.4 in Q1 FY27 from 106.9 in the previous quarter. According to the Commerce Ministry, annual inflation in the category stood at 31.94%. Data showed that prices for management of pension funds rose 5.20%, followed by railway services at 1.27%, insurance at 0.98% and telecom at 0.72%. Prices of banking services dipped 3.35% while securities transaction services eased 1.32%.
