Crude oil eyes second weekly gain amid Iran risks
21-Aug-2026 | 13:43
Crude oil futures edged towards $86 per barrel and remained on course for a second consecutive weekly gain as persistent US-Iran tensions and fading prospects of peace in the Middle East supported prices. Brent crude traded at $93.50 per barrel, while WTI stood at $86.48. Markets remained focused on potential US sanctions targeting Iran?s financial, shipping and commercial networks, which could further pressure Tehran and raise concerns over regional oil flows. Domestic crude futures for September delivery traded marginally lower at Rs 8,298 per barrel.
