Economic Buzz: Japan's manufacturing and services activity expands in August

Japan's manufacturing performance continued to grow in August, with the Flash Japan Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rising from the previous month's 54.5 to 55.1, Friday's preliminary data from S&P Global showed.

Japan's services sector continued to expand in August, with the Services Business Activity Index rising to 52.3 from 51.2 in July, S&P Global said Friday.

The S&P Global Japan Composite PMI Output Index climbed to 53.4 in August from 52.7 in July.
