Commodities Buzz: US natural gas inventories up 16 BCF

The US Energy Information Administration reported that working natural gas stocks in the Lower 48 states stood at 3,169 billion cubic feet as of August 14, 2026, according to its weekly storage report released on August 20. The figure marks a net increase of 16 Bcf from the prior week. Compared with the same period last year, inventories were 28 Bcf lower, while they remained 185 Bcf above the five-year average of 2,984 Bcf. Total working gas fell within the five year historical range for this time of year.
