Agri Buzz: India's kharif acreage stays down on year ago levels, Rice planting sheds 3.65%

India's Kharif acreage stood at 1016 lakh hectares or lh as of 14 August 2026, down around 2%, from 1037 lh a year ago, latest data showed. Area under Rice stood at 379 lakh hectares, down around 3.65% on year. Acreage under pulses dropped 1.84% at 105.73 lh. Total cereals acreage has slipped 2.35% to 173 lh. Oilseeds acreage eased around 0.48% to 184.46 lh. Sugarcane acreage is down 0.52% to 58.31 lh. Cotton area is down 0.88% at 107.3 lh.
