Commodities Buzz: Gold net speculative long positions surge to six-month high

Precious metals speculators continued to cut their net long position in the Gold futures sharply, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Gold futures, traded by large speculators, hedge funds and retailers, totalled a net position of 197634 contracts in the data reported through August 4, 2026, gaining 15564 contracts from the previous week. The net longs have edged up near six-month high.
