Economic Buzz: Japan's leading index reflects economy is showing improvement

Japan?s Cabinet Office released its preliminary June Composite Index of Business Conditions (2020=100) on the 7th, showing that the coincident index, which reflects current economic conditions, rose 0.3 points from the previous month to 118.2, improving for the first time in two months. Meanwhile, the leading index, which predicts economic conditions several months ahead, remained flat month-on-month at 116.4. The Cabinet Office maintained its overall economic assessment, stating the economy is showing improvement.
