Economic Buzz: US ISM services activity up slightly in July

The United States' service sector activity improved slightly in July, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) said on Wednesday. The Services Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) came in at 54.1%, up from June's 54%, but below market expectations.

The Business Activity Index increased to 59.1% from 55.4%, while the New Orders Index rose to 57.2% from 55.1%. The Employment Index declined to 47.4%, compared to 51.2% in June. Supplier Deliveries fell to 52.8% from 54.4%.
