Economic Buzz: Australia household spending rises 0.8% in June

Australia?s household spending increased 0.8% month-on-month in June 2026, easing from a revised 1.2% rise in May. Growth was supported by stronger spending on transport, recreation, health, and alcohol and tobacco, while clothing, restaurants and miscellaneous goods saw declines. All states and territories recorded gains, led by Tasmania at 1.6% and the Australian Capital Territory at 1.4%. On an annual basis, household spending accelerated to 6.0% from 5.5%, marking its strongest growth in three months and pointing to resilient consumer demand.
