Economic Buzz: Japan's industrial production up by 1.3% in June

Japan's industrial production index rose to 103.9 in June, up 1.3% from May and 4.2% from the previous year, according to a preliminary report from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), released on Friday.

Inventories and the inventory ratio both rose 2.3% month-on-month, while shipments declined 0.4%.

Year-on-year, shipments increased 2.7%, while inventories and the inventory ratio fell 2.7% and 3.2%, respectively.
